Dr. Caroline Lopez-Perry
Dr. Lopez- Perry joined the School Counseling program in Fall 2016 as an Assistant Professor. She received her Doctorate in Counselor Education from Ohio University with a specialty in School Counseling and Counselor Education and supervision. Dr. Lopez-Perry is a CSULB School Counseling program alumna. Dr. Lopez- Perry has presented at state and national counseling conferences on evidence-based practices. Her research interests include school counselor leadership and training and group work. Her most recent work, entitled “School Counselors: Collaborating for LCAP Goals” was published in the Association of California School Administrators Leadership magazine. Dr. Lopez-Perry is currently working with graduate students from both the school counseling and teacher education program to examine the lesson planning practices of school counselors. Her areas of expertise include school counselor training and leadership, group counseling, and school counseling core curriculum.
Dr. Jacob Olsen
Dr. Olsen is an Assistant Professor in the School Counseling Program here at California State University, Long Beach. Prior to his current role at CSULB, Dr. Olsen was a school counselor in elementary, high school, and K-12 settings in Washington and North Carolina. His research interests include equity and access to quality education, implementation of comprehensive school counseling programs aligned with the ASCA National Model, and the integration of comprehensive school counseling programs with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). In addition, Dr. Olsen has a passion for involving school counseling graduate students in research, writing, volunteer experiences, and other collaborative opportunities that benefit school counseling graduate students, K-12 partners, the community, and the field of school counseling.
